Stay.

It began with a song about the turmoil of romantic commitment. I used a pastel color palette to convey the artists’ somber and pensive moods. I wanted the birds to signify their choice of leaving a relationship.

In this piece, I used gradients, as well as a combination of pixel and vector brushes to create texture. My favorite part was using different pigments of watercolor to color the birds. Finally, drawing inspiration from Khalid’s album, “American Teen,” I hand-lettered the album title with a pink drop-shadow for a retro feel.
